Trail Report: Friday, Oct. 10

We've been enjoying some beautiful fall weather the last few weeks. The leaves have changed colour and are beginning to shed, carpeting some trails in blazes of yellows and orange. The trails are surprisingly dry as we head into the Thanksgiving weekend, but there's some rain in the forecast. The models show anywhere from 5-15 mm of rain on Saturday and Sunday before dry conditions return Monday. If you're thinking of sneaking in one last alpine ride, be prepared for snow.

Trail crew spent most of the week doing trail and feature inspections. We have 105 km of trails and about 170 wood features they need to inspect every fall. We do this to fulfill our reporting requirements to the government, but more importantly, these inspections inform the work we will do in 2026. Of course, they also brought a chainsaw and some tools with them and did some trail work along the way. Lastly, they picked up a load of decking from Downie Timber that will be used for bridge replacement projects next year. Thank you Downie for the donation!

There's only two weeks left for trail crew. Our hope is we get some decent precip so they can do some quality dirt work before signing off for the season.

Finally, we need to let you know that there is some salvage logging happening near Flowdown by the lower power line crossing. Please be on the lookout for machinery and obey any signage you see.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
