Trail Report: Friday, May 29
My how the tables turned. Yesterday, we were sitting on a patio, enjoying the hot weather. Today, the story is about the rain and cold front that's come with it.
We haven't checked the trails since last night's storm. They were in great shape before that, with lots of Trailforks’ reports citing "ideal" conditions. We can only assume they're now "wet" or "variable," at best. If you've been out, let everyone know in the comments or send a report via www.bikerevelstoke.org/conditions.
We'd like to know if any trees came down last night. If you see one, let us know where it is and how big so we can tackle it. Send photos if you’ve got them.
The weather models show cloudy skies with some rain and a few sunny periods over the next week. That's great for conditions and our trail crew, who will be able to do some quality dirt work for the foreseeable future.
We had a productive week of trail work. First, we hosted a Dig Day with the Bikes, Beers & Babes crew on Saturday. A small group smoothed the roots on Home Run, so you can now race back to the parking lot at top speed.
Trail crew was busy. They got up to Bike Club to remove a root ball that was blocking the trail. They then went to Macpherson and met the high school mountain bike team to rebuild the jumps on Break-a-Leg. Word has it they were pretty stoked and were very skilled at building jumps. The crew also worked on Gravy Bacon, smoothing out the landings on jumps and buffing out berms. Finally, they went and did a bunch of work on Ultimate Frisby, which is now accessible from 6K on the Sledhalla FSR; it will be a couple more weeks before you can get to UFC.
We have a few events coming up this week:
