Trail Report: Friday, June 13
Here's our trail report for Friday, June 13:
The week started off very hot and dry and trails were starting to get very dusty after over a week without rain. Fortunately, things turned around and we got some solid rain to end the week, so you'll be able to enjoy great riding this weekend.
⛏ The first thing to know is that there are changes to Sisyphus to make the Gravy Bacon and lower Boondocker junctions safer. At Gravy Bacon, the trails no longer overlap. Instead, if you're coming up Sisyphus, you'll cross Gravy Bacon and proceed onto a short new section of trail. At Boondocker, you'll find a slight re-route that will make it much easier to see traffic coming down Boondocker as your approach. The uphill rider is expected to yield to any downhill riders here, so please stop and look up before you cross at all junctions.
Here's what trail crew got up to:
⛏ The bridge on Yew R Here near the junction of Hemlock Groove was replaced. This bridge was damaged in the storm on May 31 and needed to be completely replaced. We're like to thank Stella-Jones for contributing towards the purchase of a load of decking for this bridge and others, and Full Speed Rentals for loaning us a trailer to transport it to the trailhead. Our Burley trailer also came in handy for getting the decking up the trail. Check out the second photo for some pictures of the construction in progress.
⛏ They removed trees on River Run, which were the last to get to following the storm.
⛏ The course for this Saturday's Iron Horse XC was given a once-over and is riding great.
⛏ They met with local stakeholders to look at the beaver dam that is flooding the egress road from Ultimate Frisby back to Boulder. There is one busy beaver out there and that pond is getting bigger by the week. The road is also used by the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club and dirt bikers, so we are working together with Rec Sites & Trails BC on a solution.
Looking forward, we're hoping we get some more rain so we can do some more dirt work where it's needed. If not, there's lots of brushing and wood repairs to do. If you're aware of an issue on our trails that needs to be addressed, send us a message or let us know in the comments.
Happy riding! Don't forget to buy your membership!
