Here's our trail report for Friday, Oct. 23:
This is our final report for the season. Trail crew wrapped up and put away the tools this week, and will be enjoying some well-deserved time off before they start their winter jobs.
Kirk, Dan, and Tyler were joined this week by Tomas Berntsson, the founder of Mountain Grit, a Swedish company that makes backcountry gear and workwear designed for harsh conditions. Part of Mountain Grit's mission is to showcase local communities and initiatives, so he spent a few days on the tools with our crew, and filming some video. Thank you Tomas for volunteering your time on the trails and showcasing our work.
The crew spent two days on Haulin' Daze, giving it a nice end-of-season grooming and putting it to bed in great shape as we head into winter. Our goal is to have it riding fast when the trail wakes up in the spring. On Wednesday, they shifted their focus Snakes & Ladders, where they finished roughing in the connector from Snakes & Ladders to Redneck's Revenge. The line is still pretty rough, but you should be able to ride it and avoid the short pedal up the road. Thursday was all about clean-up, tool inventory, and other end-of-season tasks before signing out for the winter. Thank you Kirk, Dan, Tyler and Ed for your great work this season!
While trail crew is done, that doesn't mean the riding is. The trails are in fantastic shape, with really nice dirt. That could change with rain and cold temps in the forecast, so enjoy it while you can. Frisby Ridge is still open, but it looks like it will snow up there this weekend, so we'll probably close it once it does. Check out the Stoke Chair webcam at Revelstoke Mountain Resort to keep an eye on snow levels.
While trail crew is done, we're not quite finished for the season. On Halloween, we're hosting the the TNT Chainless Massacre & Beaver Bash. We hope to see you there!
