Trail Report: Friday, Oct. 16
We are absolutely thrilled to announce our adaptive bridge project on Flowdown and Stimulus is complete! This was a major undertaking that required replacing about 150 metres of bridges and boardwalks with new ones that are all 120 cm wide. These trails are now accessible to adaptive mountain bikers, and we also got some beautiful new infrastructure and a couple of skinnies in the process.
Thank you to the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC and the Resort Municipal Initiative for providing funding this year to allow us to complete this project. And, of course, a big shout to our trail crew for their amazing and creative work getting this done over the past two years: Kirk Murray, Tyler Wakita, Daniel Kilburn, Jacob Tooke, and Ed Pealing.
The crew also completed technical trail feature inspections on Boulder and Macpherson this week. That means checking every wood feature and big jump and assessing what kind of work they need, if any. The inspections will inform our priorities for next year. They have one week left in the season before putting the tools away for winter.
It's midway through October and the trails are in great shape. They're wet, but not muddy, which is ideal in our minds. You may want to lower the PSI in your tires to help with the wet roots; and you can definitely expect to find puddles here and there, but the dirty is nice and grippy. We're definitely enjoying the fall colours. Check out Berm Donor, where you can spot golden larches growing in the cutblock.
It's supposed to rain Saturday, then be mostly cool and cloudy for the rest of the week. Frisby Ridge is still open, but we may close it after this weekend depending on how much it rains on Saturday.
