Trail Report: Friday, Aug. 14

Wasn't it great to see the smoke clear on Wednesday? After a week of thick smoke, the shift in winds that cleaned out the air was most welcome. There's still major wildfires burning out of control in the Okanagan, so the situation could change with a change in weather patterns. Let's be thankful that smoke is the worst thing we have to deal with, and not the stress of fires raging near our community and forcing evacuations.

Unfortunately, the dry weather continues for the foreseeable future. Expect dusty conditions across our network, even in the alpine on Frisby Ridge. The only rain in the forecast is for next weekend, and we've long learned to not get our hopes up from a 10-day prognostication.

Trail crew was back to work this week and focused their attention on our last major adaptive bridge project. This time, they were on Stimulus, building a new bridge next to the log crossing on the lower part of the loop. We didn't want to remove that unique feature because we know people love it, so instead we're building a wider bridge next to it. The framing is done, and it should be finished up this week. When it is, Stimulus will be accessible to adaptive mountain bikers. We'd like to thank the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club for letting us use their trailer to transport materials to the site. We also got some nice cedar off-cuts for the supports from Stella-Jones in exchanged for a donation to the Revelstoke Women's Shelter.

Cheers to everyone who came out on Wednesday for the Dig Day on Tall Timber. We had a great turnout and the reroute is coming along great. There's still more work to be done, but this project will make Tall Timber more fun and sustainable going forward. Thank you Peter and Jacob for leading this project!
