Trail Report: Friday, Aug. 7
Our trail crew enjoyed a much-deserved week off this week, so instead of our usual report, we want to take the time to give a shoutout to our Trail Crew Sponsors:

Sadly, the smoke has really rolled into town this week and it's looking pretty bleak outside as I write this around Friday at noon. That said, it's hard to gauge how things will play out because weather patterns are always changing and a shift in winds can send the smoke elsewhere. Based on experience, sometimes the smoke comes and goes quickly, but we've also had summers where it lingers for days and even weeks on end. It's sad that this is becoming the new normal for August, but we also need to be honest about it. Of course, everyone has different tolerances when it comes to biking when it's smokey out. I recommend checking map.purpleair.com for real-time air quality readings, and firesmoke.ca for wildfire smoke forecasts. I'll be looking outside my window and heading out for mellow rides when I feel comfortable.
It hasn't rained in a while and the condition reports on Trailforks range from "dry" to "very dry" to "dusty AF." Fortunately, there is rain in the medium and long-term forecasts, so we'll be crossing our fingers and hoping it will wash away the smoke and bring tackiness back to the trails. If you've got a rain dance, now's the time to get out on the dance floor.
Trail crew is back to work on Monday and they'll be working on a range of major projects on Macpherson and Boulder for the next few weeks. We're pretty excited about them, but we're going to keep things under wraps until they're done.
